Extra little vignettes not found in the book!

July 29, 2006

Gabriel and Joelle live with my parents, since bringing them from a big backyard lifestyle to the big city in their adulthood would not be a good idea. I get a call from Mom last night that my dad bought three packages of cookies: Chocolate something or other, another something or other, and raspberry cream shortbread. Gabriel somehow found the grocery bag and got into it when my dad went in the other room.

He pulls out the raspberry cookies and OPENS the package and pulls out the tray. He didn't EAT the cookies until my dad came back in the room, but he pulled out the tray and waited for him. What a NUT!

Later that night, my mom said, "Gabriel, go tell Daddy to give you a cookie - you good boy!" He runs (well, at 15 it's more like a saunter) back into the kitchen and puts his nose on the package of cookies and looks lovingly at my dad - much like the pic of him on the homepage. What a DOLL!

Shortly after we lost Gabriel, my mom's friend Jackie gave Joelle a little snowman doll. You know - the one modeled after the book THE SNOWMAN.

She has taken to putting the doll in her bed under the covers safe and sound and falling asleep holding one of my socks. It's absolutely the sweetest thing to see.

* have no fears - as the book will explain, Joelle does not eat socks.
