An advance preview of the book's introduction:

To most people, a Siberian Husky is either completely adorable or completely jarring in appearance. With his wolf-like features, strong physique, and attentive presence, a Siberian Husky is at the very least handsome and noticeable. But to anyone who has ever owned one, they are so much more. Nine times out of ten, a Sibe is an ever-curious, ever-loving, independent, attention-hungry family type who needs your love 24/7.

Many potential owners find the "free spirit" of the Siberian Husky to be too much to handle in a quiet home. Not in all cases, but you may find their proclivity for some or all of the following: digging, licking, chewing, jumping, nuzzling, nudging at the dinner table, and of course, escaping! Some make the mistake of leaving a Husky off leash!! Just assume that you will never train a Husky to go leashless - even if you have seen it done, lean on the understanding that it cannot be accomplished.

But to a true Husky admirer, we view these foibles as very minor inconveniences, traded for unconditional love, endless comedy, and incomparable companionship from what we view as the best dog on Earth. With similar patience given to our children when they throw baby food at the wall and eat paste, we have undying faith that the Husky will grow and mature into a quiet, well-mannered friend. And, be certain that they do! But there are certain ways to train a Husky - sometimes unconventional - which hopefully will be made clearer in each story.

Some confuse the intense appearance for one of a fierce watchdog. Oh, they watch alright, but these are people dogs, and not likely at all to attack or bite. You can expect intense howling and maybe pouncing on the intruder and licking his face uncontrollably.

The same keen intellect and instinctive sense of emotion that makes Huskies so loveable also does lend to them knowing when a victim is in peril. They are so incredibly intuitive and tapped in. And all teasing aside, I have heard MANY heroic stories of Huskies really coming to the defense of the innocent in distress - especially children.

In almost all cases, a Siberian Husky is a sheep in wolf's clothing. They adore the family unit, and are eager to be an equal member (remember Huskies work in teams!) Even those who suffer unfortunate childhoods in homes with people who simply don't understand them, this breed is undeniably loyal and hopeful - and when they find the right people to adopt, you have got a friend for life. One who fills your life with endless laughter and love. After all, a Sibe's got real personality - many refuse to call them dogs at all.

I have been blessed to have shared my life with many Huskies and each one of them has given me more stories and antics than I could contain any longer. Don't get me wrong, the other dogs I have kept also have provided funny tales, also included.

All the stories you are about to read are completely true. This book will hopefully be a treat for you. If you already keep Huskies, you may revel in the stories that may be similar to yours about your dogs. For new or prospective owners, I hope this book will be helpful to you as you understand the Siberian Husky.
